Writing
  • Urban Fantasy: 2nd draft complete, whereupon I decided to take a slightly different approach with the unfolding of the plot and started from near-scratch. 3 chapters down, 29 to go! At least I have all of the world building and characters locked and loaded!
Exercise and diet
  • I've lost 11 pounds! Exercise and diet were going well--lots of good food, and I cut out sugar entirely. Then my family came to visit and I caught a cold and had a giant work event all in one week. So, I fell off the wagon a bit over the past two weeks. This weekend marks my jumping back into the saddle.
New Goals
  • Learn the French language: I've been practicing for about a week. Full disclosure: I took three years in high school, so I'm not starting from scratch.
  • Re-learn guitar: A few weeks ago, I bought a new acoustic guitar and have been re-teaching myself Classical guitar. I have not practiced in 30 years (no joke), and it is definitely not like riding a bike. However, it is very fun. I'm about 25 pages in to the song book.
  • Knitting: My mother and I will be going to a knitting retreat in the Fall. She is a great knitter, but I'm having to relearn. I haven't knitted in 15 years, since I started seriously pursuing writing and publishing
Reading
  • I have been reading a bunch of non-fiction. Historical biographies and books on people who follow their bliss. You know, those folks who walk away from good-paying day jobs to make their dreams come true? Yes, I might be living vicariously.
Television and Movies
  • Rewatching Outlander, The Crown, and Great British Bake-Off.
  • Saw Avengers: End Game, re-watched the Iron Man films, saw a few other less-memorable films in the theatre
Aspirations
  • Form a writing group for published authors of popular fiction in the Boston area.

    Not another Kate!

I am a  word alchemist, angel apologist--no, really, I'm very sorry about them--and urban fantasist. I reside in all possible worlds.

This is my home on the interwebs where I weave stories, share writing trials and triumphs, and generally shake off the crazy that comes from staring too long at the page.
